Today is My Grrrls birthday. She is 36 years old now. It is also my Dad's 6th dead day. My Grrrl and I went out and had a nice lunch and shopping and now, I am getting ready to go laundry. I took a anti anxiety med in Target and I am fading... maybe no laundry? Found some more people in my tree, including a Ewing (like 5 generations back on my moms side...you know, like in Dallas, the Ewing family, J.R. Ewing... who shot J.R.? Dear Dad, 6 years ago tomorrow, you passed away. I miss you very much today and every day. I have taken up the family history. I have found your ancestors all the way back to London and France and Ireland. I am enjoying finding all of this information, but I wish that I had you and your research beside me. Tomorrow is the anniversary of the passing of my father, Randy Glen Bishop. He is missed very much. I can't think of a better way to honor him, than to make sure that my kids don't turn into the cow that shall not be named, and to spend the day with my family. There will, of course, be German Chocolate Cake. I do believe that I remember that was his favorite! Also, I do the family tree. Always wishing that I had him to help me, and if not, the information that he gathered. Alas, I have neither, but I do have the Ancestry.com subscription. TONS OF STUFF I have found in the past 24 hours!!! I have an ancestor named Nimrod... And Dorcas! LOL Dorcas Milocus! That kind of works... It worked in my head! I broke down and got the membership to Ancestry.com with my Christmas money! Yeah! I found a picture of my Grandad Milton with, I think it is his sister, maybe his mother. Whatever! I was so excited! He was SO HANDSOME!!!

 

 

I have found all kinds of hints, I am going crazy! YEAH!!! With that, and the information that Marie found the other night, I am crusin!  I have even found some things on my mother's side.

I also have something on ancestry, where someone else added my great grandfathers census records to his tree. He pays, I don't, so I can't get to his stuff, info or anything... We got about a foot of snow last night, what a night! We still went shopping today. If this was Albuquerque, the whole town would have been shut down! My Grrrrl's step mom took us to Kohl's, got new jeans, gotta love that! Tonight, dinner and Big Bang Theory, and, of course, family togetherness...might be a little sarcasm intended there...lol! I am, maybe lucky, maybe not, not feeling well, due to some tummy issues... Tomorrow, the movies, and dinner out, maybe the fairly togetherness wi ll start later tomorrow! I showed off some of my sites and skills to my step mother in law. I found her dad on findagrave.com. He past in March, I was surprised he was on there already. I don't know where my dad's ashes are. His widow fences the issue when I bring it up. I would like to make him a resting place in my courtyard, even if it is only symbolic...his death day anniversary is soon, maybe we can have a death day party for him, and dedicate something for him, but that really isn't enough time to put something together that would be deserving of him, and vice versa! Started on my new organizing system. Didn't get far. Turned out to be a VERY busy day at work. My boss is letting me leave a day early since the roads will be bad Thursday. I have the best boss ever!!!

 

So, I may or may not bog between now and next Tuesday. I will be at my in-laws and I am not sure how that will work, last time we were there, my iPad would barely get online! Grrr!

Re-working it all over again. I have printed out all that I have in the way of PowerPoint's. I have decided to look at stuff and figure out better ways to put it all together. There are some branches that I have come across, that need to be on their own PowerPoint's. I am going to print everything as small as I can, and then attach them to cards and put those cards on rings, so that they can be taken off and rearranged.

So, there you go, I am will be in the planning stage, which to me is the funnest! Even if not the most productive. I see it this way, as long as I am still interested in it, I might someday, lol, get back to actual research, plus I am hoping to get more info from others soon.

Oh yeah, and my Gramma Inez said that she was going to get me in touch with her cousin. Did I mention that yesterday? I might have! I am very excited about it!

I got all of the power-points dates changed. I also got the sizes changed as I wanted. There is a lot of confusion in the Eighth Generation. There are people that need to be elsewhere, so I need to figure that one out, maybe they need their own power-points? I need to make one that is just a direct line from my kids up through the years.

I have that on paper, I guess I could enter that?

I also talked to my Gramma Inez, she said that she has a cousin that she will ask if I can talk to, she knows all the stuff on my Gramma Inez' mothers side... This would be Ivy (Iva) Texas Pace. Pretty excited about that, I will have to get some questions ready!

I recorded my Nana talking, and the kids were very good in asking lots of good questions, I hope Iike heck that the sound was good enough, the heater kept kicking on, so that might have caused some problem. I need to listen to it tonight, see what I have, and maybe burn it on a disc, so it will be safe!

Lots going on today! Actually cracked open one of the books that I checked out, due in three days... found some awesome free web sites. I have registered at one of them, and am happily plugging along. I found Heather's paternal grandfathers entry in the S.S. death index! Wow!

 

Anyhow, that is really all that I have for today, I have to leave work early to take Cara for her cast removal, and I am not coming back in, so there you have it, actually have to work today! LOL

Today is St. Nicholas Day. We celebrated this in Belgium. I remember singing the song that Santa sings to the Dutch girl in Miracle on 34th street. I remember doing a performance with the kids in my school, in the church in our village. It was packed, and I remember the burlap bag of chocolate coins and sticks we got. I wish that I had some clogs to have left out last night! Well, I have tiny ceramic ones ion my shadow box!

No serious blog today. Got in late, due to the weather. School is closed today, and there is a terrible storm out there, not really that bad at this moment, cold and windy, but from what I can see the worst is ahead of us...Maybe I will get snowed in tomorrow?! We can only hope!

 

Anyhow, I have a ton of Monday things to get done, and I am feel like I am running up an icy hill where all of it is concerned! Yikes!

 

Anyhow, that is that, might have time to work on the family tree tonight, I did read some on the bus, but I didn't really learn anything new... I still have to finish sourcing the rest of my power point, just when I think that I have done it all, I see that I have not... Oh Joy! So, I might do that... who knows...

I am still working on listing my sources on it all... Then I will start reading my books again. Maybe not the one that seems like it is for 12 year olds! I also have podcasts I can listen to the next episode, because I will be caught up on. Oh wait, there is something that I am not clear on in that podcast. It said that the social security index should be free, but I w asked to pay... I think that I got taken away from the free site, I was mislead.

Not exactly the normal sort of update... Today I helped Marie go through the steps to get her new birth certificate. All we have to do is mail off the paperwork tomorrow, once I have gotten stamps!

As for the rest of it... this morning I updated the PowerPoints so that they are by generation. For one, because it is so big that it is not email-able. Two, because this way, I can see for sure, that I have back to my GREAT GREAT GREAT Grandparents! Woohoo!

I am going to send out the letters that I wrote to family tomorrow, again, when I have stamps.

I am not going to update anymore today, I am behind at work because of a visit from Marie to my office, we had lunch and visited, it was nice. She gave me some nice pens, to replace the nice pens she always steals from me! LOL

Holy cow it is almost December! No blog today, thought that I had a cake day today, and it turns out, not so much. To top things off, tonight is the knitting group, and all but 2 people have said that they will not be there, and I think that the other 2 won't show. Oh well, at least I can get out of here early then!

 

I got hit by a wave of tired and I have 4 interviews to set up with difficult docs and midlevels. That is the part of my job I dislike... Grrrr! I enjoy setting it all up, I dislike how other knock it all down, and usually at the last minute... Again, I say Grrrr!

 

This weekend I am going to write the letters to my family about wanting to be the "record keeper". I am going to do it on my awesome pages app! One of the most expensive, but best apps ever!

 

Anyhow,I think that I could use some water!

My reclassification is official today. That is a PC way of saying promotion, why not just say promotion, oh well, who cares! I got it.

I have no new info to post today, although I do have new stuff... I spent all night last night entering new stuff from the "hints" that I got on Ancestry.com. I only added them, and their sources, when I already knew or pretty much knew, the info to be true.

I am going to spend tonight knitting, because I have the knitting group tomorrow, so I must, but I will write letters to all of my family to tell them that I want to be the record keeper. One of the pod casts I listened to, said to do this, so that people will be more likely to send inf they have to you, or me, as it were...I also want to write to Viki, my Dad's widow, but I think that might be tricky. She has remarried, and I am not sure how that will go over. Her new husband seems nice, we are Face Book friends, so... I hope that if I ask, she has the stuff, and that she will find it and send it, however, I have already asked for his ashes, and she was sketchy about it. I have a bad feeling, that she doesn't have anything anymore, if she tossed it in depression, that will be t bed, since Randy has two daughters and three grand kids who would have appreciated the stuff, and if her evil daughter got rid of it... Well, them's fightin' words, as it were...

Anyhow, I will send off letters by this Friday, I hope!

No new info today, I found a lot of hints last night, on the updated Ancestry.com app I have. There are leaves now, and as John said, the leaves cost. What I wonder is, if I pay for the service, are the leaves then free?

No blog today. Spent a lazy day, mostly in bed, knitting and such. Tonight I am going to dinner with my sister and her boyfriend, that should be nice, then home to watch movies, in bed, with My Grrrl! What a great day!

Still working on our Zombie Closet! Maybe I'll do some stuff on that tomorrow, but we are going to see Nana, and Robert and I need to take about 4 trips worth of recycling to the recycling trucks, so that will take a while in itself. I also got a sewing pattern for pajamas, that should be fun, and somewhat easy.

No blog today, I am so tired and coming down with something, a cold, I am looking forward to next week, when there are only 3 days that I have to come in, and no big deals for us to have to go to... I need to relax, I need a break, and right now, I need a nap, that I cannot have, so bummer!

I did show a co-worker my PowerPoint of my family tree stuff, I am seriously thinking about joining Ancestry with my Xmas money...I don't think that it is a scam like my father in law thinks. I think that if you pay for the membership, you have access to all the leaves that you want... Anyhow, I also think that I am going to ask my Aunt Robbie if she has access to any of the stuff that Dad or Cousin Donna did... I might even ask my dad's widow. I know that her life is in turmoil now... but still... It is worth a try I suppose...

No Blog Update Today. Busy in meetings, and now that I have finished with my Gramma's siblings, I suppose that I should do thier parents or thier spouses, but I am not sure what I have already done, so I will do nothing... Sorry... Ill b all over itm, most likely on Monday. Blogger app is still down, and HP 7.2 drops at midnight, so I will be tired tomorrow! Woohoo!

Today would have been my dad and Viki's 16th anniversary. I think 16... They were married the same year that Cara was born, so yep, 16 years! Wow! I miss my Dad... :(

Anyhow, I got all of my slide shows moved to Keynote in the iPad, so I will ALWAYS have them with me. Even the Ancestry.com app needs to be online. I mean I can look at it, but I cant make changes unless I am online, strange... Unhelpful...

Anyhow, I am not going to do an update today, I am only at work for 1/2 a day today. I will start again on Monday with Bobby Ray McCarty. I might work on another letter for my Gramma this weekend too!

I really do want to go there for Spring Break and record her... Need to work on that...

Updates

Updated the heck out of Ancestry.com.
Put all of my flashcards on rings, so they are bundled better, and I can flip through them easier.
Got pictures off of the findagrave site. I don't have time to get them all, but I will updating them as I can into Ancestry.com.

My PowerPoint is now to big to put into my iPad! LOL. So, now I have starting breaking it down by families. The Bishop one is all nice and has a theme, etc, and I have not gotten around to the others. I think that I need to come up with some other, easier way to do it. Marie was doing her this way, and the thing that drew me to it was that I could insert the links, to be honest, I stopped doing that a while ago, and that doesn't carry over to the iPad, plus I can't edit on the iPad. I am digging the icloud, from Apple. I can edit it in "Pages" either on the iPad or computer. However, moving it, at this point, makes me head hurt! LOL!

Anyhow, back to work, head is hurting, I think that I have the cold that Robert got from Jimmy, that Jimmy got from Sammy... LOL... I have a cold is all that matters!
